Child’s Play

I have finished my Sunbonnet Sue and Fisherman Fred Quilt.

These images photographed blueish but they are actually on a white background. I just love this dress-up Sue. My daughter loved to dress up.

I found the designs at Embroidery Library here. (Keep scrolling, there are over 400 sue designs. But be careful!! They are so cute it’s hard to buy just one! Have you ever seen Astronaut Sunbonnet Sue?  Or Scuba Diving Sue?  Embroidery Library has them. And be sure to get on their email list. They have great sales and I was able to get them for $1 each.

One of the tricks I learned with this quilt was to starch my background fabric before machine embroidering. It really helped keep out the puckers. I just used 3 or 4 coats of spray starch.

I’m thinking of making a pillow to match. What do you think? Then it will be listed in my shop.

About ladybelle

I'm a wife, mother and grandmother and I love to make things, especially sock monkeys. They're great for all kinds of gifts, birthdays, baby showers, etc. Kids love them and so do adults!! I've made many football players, including Peyton Manning, Tony Romo and Tom Brady, and character monkeys like Rainbow Brite and the Grinch. Look at some of my favorites and email me with your requests at

Way way way too cute – love these!!! Starch is a great idea – I’d forgotten I did that too. I have the Pacific Northwest Creation designs and have had such trouble keeping them pucker-free.
