My assignment last week was to make a cowgirl monkey. I loosely fashioned her after the cowgirl in the Toy Story movie except a skirt instead of chaps and no pigtails. Hair on a monkey is no easy task as I found out when I made the last girl monkey. See in earlier post.

This is Lydia. She turned out pretty well. I would say better than I aimed for her to but that expression is a little overused. The hat was a little challenging.

There is no monkey hat store. All I could find to fit her was a straw hat–no good for a proper cowgirl.  So I got the idea to cover the straw with cow hide.  On her vest back I put a lucky My little Pony.

And of course, her name.

You can have one like her. Just check my etsy shop.

About ladybelle

I'm a wife, mother and grandmother and I love to make things, especially sock monkeys. They're great for all kinds of gifts, birthdays, baby showers, etc. Kids love them and so do adults!! I've made many football players, including Peyton Manning, Tony Romo and Tom Brady, and character monkeys like Rainbow Brite and the Grinch. Look at some of my favorites and email me with your requests at
